Hines Opens Development and Investment Office in Salt Lake City

-

HOUSTON, TX – March 2, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Hines, the international real estate firm, announced today that it has opened a new development and investment office in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The office will be headed by Dustin (“Dusty”) Harris, who transferred in February from Hines’ development office in Orange County, CA.  Hines currently has multiple property management offices in Salt Lake City, and has continuously conducted business in the area since 1988 when the firm acquired The Kearns Building, situated on Main Street in the heart of downtown.  Hines also owns and manages the four-building Cottonwood Corporate Center in Salt Lake City’s Cottonwood suburb.   Harris will be responsible for sourcing and executing new development and investment opportunities in the Greater Salt Lake Area.

“We are delighted Hines has opened a development and investment office in downtown Salt Lake City. Our Capital City is brimming with development potential, and Hines’ global mixed-use expertise will only enhance the quality of our growth,” commented Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker. “Hines has been a great corporate citizen as evidenced by its long-term investment in the historic Kearns Building. We look forward to future opportunities to work with Hines.”

“Hines is very enthusiastic about the real estate market in the Salt Lake City area, and foresees long-term growth potential in a number of new business opportunities and diverse product categories,” Harris said.

Since joining Hines in 2005 in Orange County, Harris has been responsible for the entitlement, financing, development, construction and leasing activities for the 265,000-square-foot 2211 Michelson office building in Irvine, CA, the first multi-tenant office building on the West Coast to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for Core & Shell from the U.S. Green Building Council.  Also in Irvine, he was instrumental in acquiring two industrial buildings on 16 acres of land and leading the design and entitlement efforts for development of California Green, a six-building, 800,000-square-foot development project that will include office and retail space.

Harris received a BS in Business Administration degree from the University of Utah in 2001, and his Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in 2005.  He and wife, Raphael Ridd Harris, have three children.

Hines is a privately owned real estate firm involved in real estate investment, development and property management worldwide. The firm’s historical and current portfolio of projects that are underway, completed, acquired and managed for third parties includes more than 1,100 properties representing approximately 457 million square feet of office, residential, mixed-use, industrial, hotel, medical, cultural arts and sports facilities, as well as large, master-planned communities and land developments.  With offices in more than 100 cities in 16 countries, and controlled assets valued at approximately $25.6 billion, Hines is one of the largest real estate organizations in the world.
