U.S. Department of Commerce Invests Nearly $2.2 Million to Support Manufacturing and Reshoring in Utah

WASHINGTON, DC – May 21, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a nearly $2.2 million grant to the Ogden City Corporation in Ogden, Utah.  According to the grantee, the funding will help an Ogden-based company bring its advanced manufacturing operations back to the U.S. from Asia, creating 175 jobs and generating $12 million in private investment for the region.

“The Obama Administration and the Commerce Department are committed to helping companies reinvest in America and bringing more investment to our shores,” said Secretary Pritzker. “The EDA grant announced today will support an important manufacturing project that will create jobs and strengthen the economy in Ogden.”

EDA’s investment will support the construction of a new waterline to service the Ogden Business Exchange, a business and light industrial park currently being developed and marketed to businesses. Additional water service is needed to meet the demands of the park’s anchor tenant ENVE Composites, an established, growing Ogden-based company that currently employs 150 technology and advanced manufacturing workers in the area. According to the grantee, ENVE is committed to re-patriating manufacturing jobs from its Chinese manufacturing affiliates back to the United States and, to that end, is constructing a new, state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing facility that will leverage American worker productivity and technological capacity in carbon fiber product innovation as a result of this project. This upgraded infrastructure will provide additional capacity, which will allow other businesses to locate in the park, creating new job opportunities for the region.
